initializing upon startup

I just bought a used CARY 5000 with sphere. Everything seems to work , software etc. but it will not initialize with or w/o DRA accessory on. The left micrometer was jammed. I opened the cover, loosened the belt and unstuck the left one. It was at its limit and over tightened by servo. After i put the belt on it has not jammed.

Do you think it is out of alignment? in zero order, I can see the the light on both ports hitting white paper....What can i do to get this thing to pass the uv and NIR initialization????

I solved the problem.  The micometers were not in the right positions.

In align mode and zero order, SBW=5, sphere accessory removed,  I was able to tweek the two micrometers and optimize the light coming through.  You need to do this with the timing belt off of coarse.

Now I need help with noisy line traces in the NIR 800-3300 nm range.  I am measuing 4-5 abs level and the trace sure looks ragged.  It is better in slower scan > 500 nm/min but still way noisy.. Any suggestions?
