Squealing noise ocurring in mid-run

Our 6R centrifuge occasionally makes a hellacious squealing noise midway through a timed run. It will sometimes abate my jiggling the latch handle or the brake switch, but neither reliably. It sure seems like a brake problem - is there a good diagnostic test for this?

In all of the years that I worked on the Allegra 6R series centrifuges I never encountered what you are describing. The electronics should prevent any braking action whatsoever UNLESS you are actually in brake mode. It is entirely possible that you are starting to hear the beginning of the end of your drive motor's bearings. IF so, then you are looking at a drive motor replacement. I never replaced the bearings in the field because of needing special tools to do so that BCI would not provide field engineering.
