Background scan error

An error occurred whilst initiating the background scan. If the problem persists please robbot PC and restart the instrument.

So that is the message I got from running a scan.

I have tried rebooting both the PC and the instrument. Any idea/ways to fix this problem would be great.

Thank you.

Do you have a UATR fitted into the instrument? Also, try to log in to Spectrum Software with a different user.

Hi Berridit,

Thank you for your reply.

I do have a UATR fitted into the instrument. I tried logging in with administrator yesterday with the same problem. I reboot both today and tried both the PEservice and administrator, and I got the same error message.

We have two of this same machine, and the other one work just fine with PEservice logged in.

Hi Anni, please remove the UATR and see if you can run with an open beam.

Hi Berridit,

sorry for replying late.

it's unsuccessful to run with an open beam, and since then, the instrument is having connection issue, namely staying offline the whole time.

I will call for a vendor technician and have a look.

Again, thank you for your advice.

Hi Anni, As a former manufacturers specialist for these products, I know that these instruments can suffer from connection issues, which on older units, can be fixed with a firmware update or minor fix on the mainboard. It could also be an issue with a laser. Ideally, someone either in front or remotely could diagnose. Interested to hear how you get on.

Anni,

Have you been able to find the root problem to this issue? I've been experiencing the same error and am looking for help. Sometimes rebooting fixes the issue, sometimes disengaging the UATR fixes the issue. But doing that multiple times during an 8 hour shift is rediculous.

Thanks

Jeff

Hi Jeff In the PerkinElmer/serviceir folder, there will be a Monitor.exe program. With spectrum sw closed down, run this monitor program and note the value for the laser energy. What is the age of your instrument? Ian

Ian,

The instrument that I'm actually using is PE Frontier and is 4 years old. The laser energy reading this morning was 681.
