CommController: Connection Lost

We are setting up our old GC with a new computer. Seems like it's ready to go, except that the status is "equilibrating fault" and we keep getting an error message telling us that "CommController: Connection Lost" - we're having trouble getting support for this instrument and would appreciate any help.
