Beckman Coulter - DU650
DESCRIPTION
Beckman UV/VIS-Spectrometer DU 650

The DU® Series 600 Spectrophotometer is a microprocessor controlled Spectrophotometer intended for use in quantitative and qualitative biological research and industrial procedures that require spectrophotometric measurements in the UV-visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum. If the instrument is used in a manner other than as described, the safety and performance of the instrument can be impaired.      The DU Series 600 Spectrophotometer operates in the wavelength range of 190 to 1100 nm. Models of the instrument are available with either a monochrome or a color video display. Data storage on a 31/2 inch diskette is optional. Various optional accessories are available, to configure the instrument for specific application needs.

Would like to obtain Service Manual for DU-650
Does anyone have a lead on obtaining the Beckman Service Manual for the DU-650? I called Beckman directly, and they were... unhelpful. The Beckman document number is 559989. I have had no luck Googling.

Thanks

Beckman DU650 Sudden change in photometric accuracy
I had a problem with wavelength cal on a Beckman DU650. I aligned the internal slit and that problem went away. In checking calibration I found that the photometric accuracy has become much worse. Prior to my work , checking the %T accuracy with NIST SRM2031 90% nominal, showed error at 500nm to be about 0.5%T. After my work the error is approx 2%T. I have run wavelength cal and set scan gain numerous times. Things I did before this showed up; -replaced lamp -aligned lamp -minor smudges cleaned on filter wheel -removed and cleaned sensor -aligned #2 slit -moved grating mirror beam up to center on slit at 550nm (screw adjust on mirror base) I have run the performance tests, all look good. Absorbance noise; 0.000027 avg SD, spec <=0.0002A Wavelength Diff: 0 Repeatability diff; 0 Resolution 1.7390nm (spec<=1.8nm) Baseline flatness, RMS 0.0004 (spec <=0.001A) Stability at 340nm , 60 min. delta abs -0.00143 spec <0.003A I tried undoing most of what I did, including; -reinstalling the old halogen lamp -moving the grating mirror beam back to half down off the #2 slit -several setscan gain -several power on/off Why is this suddenly 4 times worse than before? Where do I look to fix? Thanks! Reply

Beckman DU650 Fails wavelength test
I have a DU650 which works fine, except that it fails the wavelength accuracy test. When I run calibration it does not find the signal to auto calibrate. I have put in new lamps but there was no improvement. The error in wavelength is about 4nm (using NIST holmium oxide liquid).

I seem to remember that some comments said the filter wheel may need to be cleaned (never has been). Is this advisable and what would be the proper cleaning liquids?

Thanks!
